Newcastle United Vs. Arsenal: Leon Best Wins Penalty Which Joey Barton Converts

At least Newcastle fans are finally getting something to cheer about. Newcastle striker Leon Best won a penalty when he was fouled by Laurent Koscielny and Joey Barton stepped up and slotted his attempt perfectly into the bottom left corner.

The atmosphere has begun to pick up as of late at St. James’ Park and Newcastle, with their man advantage, seem to think they still have something to say in this match. With 20 minutes remaining, the Toon continue to push forward the best they can.

Note: In the moments following the successful penalty conversion, both Wojciech Szczesney and Kevin Nolan were both booked for a very minor fracas when Szczesney refused to hand the ball back to Barton who simply wished to get the game started again. For Newcastle, Nile Ranger has replaced Peter Lovenkrands up front as Newcastle search for another goal. The Toon almost got that second when Nile Ranger finished from close range but the goal was ruled offside unfairly.
